Joint Ward Committee meeting

In line with the Standing Rules and Orders of Council, the Honorable Speaker is mandated to report quarterly on the functionality of Ward Committees and Public Participation programs. This ensures accountability and continuous improvement in community engagement processes.

The joint Ward Committee meetings serve as a crucial platform for the Speaker to assess progress, provide support, and engage with all Ward Committees while offering necessary feedback on issues raised during previous sessions.

On 29th November 2024, the final joint Ward Committee meeting of the year was held. This gathering allowed the Honorable Speaker to engage with committee members and provide valuable feedback. The meeting was deemed successful and set the stage for enhanced collaboration moving into the new year.

During this session, the Manager of the Office of the Speaker presented the first-quarter report to the joint Ward Committees. The report highlighted key areas requiring intervention and improvement, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the approved calendar of meetings. This structured approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of Ward Committees in addressing community needs. This meeting underscored the importance of collaboration and consistent engagement in developing a community-driven governance.
