In a determined effort to ensure the progress and quality of ongoing projects, the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and the infrastructure directorate recently conducted comprehensive site inspections in the Walter Sisulu Local Municipality (WSLM). Despite braving the cold weather, the team diligently inspected various project sites to assess their current status and progress.

The inspections commenced in James Calata at the Sara Moroosi Stadium, where significant developments were observed. This was followed by a thorough review of the paving work on Ramashala Street in Joe Gqabi, Maletswai, which showcased notable improvements. In Maletswai, the team then moved to inspect the resealing works on Broadway, Murray, and Young Streets. The final site visit took place at the Danie Craven Stadium in Burgersdorp, concluding the extensive inspection tour.

After completing the site visits, a crucial meeting was held with the Infrastructure director and the Project Management Unit (PMU) Manager. During this meeting, an overall assessment report was meticulously analysed and presented to the committee, highlighting the key findings and observations from the site inspections. The detailed report provided valuable insights into the progress, challenges, and areas requiring attention for each project.

The comprehensive report on these projects is scheduled to be tabled to the Council in the upcoming Ordinary Council meeting. This report will play a vital role in informing the Council members about the current status of the projects, facilitating informed decision-making and ensuring accountability in the execution of infrastructure projects within the municipality.

The MPAC and infrastructure directorate's dedication to conducting these site inspections, despite adverse weather conditions, underscores their commitment to transparency, quality assurance, and the overall development of WSLM. The findings and subsequent discussions will undoubtedly contribute to the effective management and successful completion of these essential projects, ultimately benefiting the community and enhancing local infrastructure.
