In a heartwarming celebration of Nelson Mandela Day, Scatec, in collaboration with the Walter Sisulu Local Municipality (WSLM), proudly handed over a newly constructed nutritional kitchen to Mzimkhulu Primary School in Burgersdorp. This initiative underscores the ongoing commitment of both organisations to improve the well-being and education of the local community.

The nutrition kitchen is designed to provide healthy meals to the students, ensuring they have the necessary sustenance to support their learning and growth. This project aligns with the core values of Nelson Mandela Day, promoting service to others and uplifting communities.

Burn Godfrey, Community Development Officer at Scatec, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This nutrition kitchen is more than just a facility, it represents our dedication to the holistic development of our children. We believe that through this facility, we can make a significant impact on their academic performance and overall health."

Mayor Cllr Vania Davids of WSLM highlighted the importance of this initiative for the community, "This handover is a testament to what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together towards a common goal. The nutrition kitchen will play a crucial role in supporting the students of Mzimkhulu Primary School, and we are grateful to Scatec for their partnership in this endeavor."

Principal Mxolisi Mfanekiso of Mzimkhulu Primary School also shared his gratitude, "The nutrition kitchen is a blessing for our school. Our students can now enjoy nutritious meals that will help them concentrate better in class and participate more actively in their studies. We are incredibly thankful to Scatec and WSLM for their generosity and support."

The handover event was marked by joyous celebrations, with students, teachers, and community members coming together to commemorate Nelson Mandela's legacy of service and unity. The new kitchen is expected to serve hundreds of students daily, providing them with the essential nutrition needed for their growth and development.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by Scatec and WSLM to invest in the community's future by supporting education and health. As the nutrition kitchen begins its operations, both organisations reaffirm their commitment to continuing their collaborative efforts to uplift and empower the Burgersdorp community.

The successful completion of this project on Nelson Mandela Day serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of collective action and the importance of giving back to those in need.
